Our goal is clear:

We aim to decrease alcohol use among Middletown youth by 33% over the next few years.

We believe that by providing education, resources, and support, we can strengthen our community and empower our youth to make positive choices for the future.

Prevention is the key to lasting community change.

At Middletown Prevention Council, we don’t just talk about prevention—we live it.

Research shows that early intervention and education can significantly reduce the risk of substance use, especially among youth. Through partnerships with schools, families, and community organizations, we work to reduce alcohol and substance use among Middletown youth by creating environments that support healthy choices.

Real change comes from consistent relationships, not one-time presentations. When parents, teachers, and community members share knowledge and work toward common goals, prevention becomes everyone’s responsibility—and that’s when we see lasting impact.

We can’t do it without you.

How we create change
in Middletown:

Youth Education:

Engaging with students through programs and initiatives that help them understand risks and explore healthier alternatives.

Community Outreach:

Connecting with residents at local
events to raise awareness and build prevention partnerships throughout Middletown neighborhoods.

Prevention Campaigns:

Creating targeted campaigns like our vaping awareness initiative and working with schools and organizations to support an alcohol-free environment for youth.

Prevention works best when the whole community is involved—
and this past year proved it.

Here’s how we made prevention a priority across Middletown:

  • 28 outreach events engaging youth, parents, and community leaders across Middletown.
  • 2,500+ people reached through prevention activities, trainings, and events.
  • 11 coalition meetings bringing partners together to plan and strengthen prevention strategies.
  • Life-saving skills shared: QPR Suicide Prevention + Narcan trainings offered to community members supported by Middletown Health Department.
  • Youth voices amplified: Featured on the “Talks Too Much” podcast, created by Middletown youth in partnership with the Middletown Youth Services Bureau.
  • New partnerships developed with schools, healthcare, law enforcement, and local community organizations.

Your voice can make all the difference.

We’re actively recruiting community members to join our coalition. You’ll connect with other parents and professionals interested in helping kids and directly influence prevention efforts in Middletown.
