New name.
Same commitment.

We have a new name and logo, but our mission remains unchanged. The Middletown Prevention Council is a coalition committed to reducing and preventing substance abuse and its related problems by promoting positive growth and healthy lifestyles through community collaboration.

Our primary focus is on youth, helping them make
informed decisions, and encouraging a safe and
supportive environment.

Awarded 2020 Prevention Coalition of the Year by the
CT Association of Prevention Professionals.

WHY PREVENTION MATTERS

Our goal is clear: to decrease alcohol use among Middletown youth from 15% to 10% over the next several years.

We believe that by providing education, resources, and support, we can foster a healthier community and equip our youth to make positive choices for their future.

Prevention is the key to creating lasting change in our community.

Research shows that early intervention and education can significantly reduce the risk of substance abuse, especially in youth. When we work to prevent alcohol and drug use, we are not only protecting the health and well-being of our young people but also strengthening the entire community.

Substance use often leads to a host of other issues, including academic struggles, mental health challenges, and involvement in risky behaviors. By investing in prevention, we are helping to create a safer, healthier environment for future generations.

At MPC, we are committed to changing the trajectory of youth behavior in Middletown, reducing alcohol use, and promoting healthier choices that lead to long-term success.

We are more than just an organization—we are a movement. By collaborating with local partners and engaging the community in meaningful ways, we are building a foundation for lasting change. Whether through prevention education, community outreach, or public awareness campaigns, we work tirelessly to help reduce substance abuse and its negative effects on youth and families in Middletown.

We’re committed to making a difference in Middletown through proactive community involvement and youth education. Here’s how:
  • Youth Education:
Engaging with students through programs and initiatives that teach the dangers of substance use and promote healthier alternatives.
  • Community Outreach:
Connecting with residents at local events to raise awareness and promote prevention efforts, ensuring the whole community is part of the solution.
  • Prevention Campaigns:
Running local initiatives like our vaping awareness campaign, school-based activities, and collaboration with local organizations to create an alcohol-free environment for youth. We have utilized the Talk They Hear You Campaign in the past.

Prevention

Our prevention professionals work with schools, youth service bureaus, law enforcement, community leaders, parents, and others throughout Connecticut.

Our mission is to educate about the risk factors facing today’s youth, including the harmful effects of drug and alcohol use.

Our Goals

We are a grant-funded coalition supported by state and local initiatives. Our goal is to increase awareness of ATOD (Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drugs) prevention and education and stimulate the development and implementation of local prevention activities for our youth.
